The Social Science Department introduces students to the interrelated theoretical
and practical aspects of psychology ,sociology, and conflict studies through
the process of viewing individuals and society in a global context.

The mission of the Social Sciences Department is to educate students about the major
research findings and theories in the field of Psychology, Sociology and Conflict Studies
and to train them to use an empirical approach for understanding human behavior and
social processes. Specifically, the department endeavors to provide students with:
- Broad exposure to the basic concepts, theories, findings, and ethical issues of Social
Sciences.
- Education in the scientific method and encouraging scholarly activities by supporting
ethical, quality, and creative research designed to refine and extend the body of
knowledge that constitutes the disciplines of the Social Sciences.
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills, including the ability to evaluate and
convey the evidence for claims regarding human behavior and social processes.
- Applied experience through internship and practicum opportunities at partnering
community organizations.
