The Career Development Center (CDC) provides a range of services for students.
We encourage students of any college year to stop by our office in Student
Life, Room 22B or send an email to cdc@lcc.lt for advice and assistance in career planning
and development. Here is the description of services for students that will
provide you with a clear picture of our activities and competences.
Individual ConsultationsThe
most popular types of individual consultations are: resume and/or cover letter
writing and interviewing skills. Other types of consultations are: self-assessment
techniques, career planning, career transition, job search strategies, job
market tendencies, employment opportunities abroad, volunteer and leadership
opportunities. We also help you select the LCC major that is right for you.
Students are provided with guidelines, free samples of resumes and cover
letters both in English and Lithuanian, job links and other supporting materials.
Seminars Each year the Career Development Center offers students many seminars
covering a variety of career related areas. Seminars are aimed at increasing
students’ awareness of the importance of career as well as enhancing
their career planning and development skills. Seminars are held by local
professionals from recruitment and consulting companies as well as the
Career Development Center’s Director, Margarita Pavlovič. Check our Events
section to see what we have to offer you this year.

Job Opportunities The Career Development Center forwards information about job opportunities
on and off campus. The Center is an intermediary between an employer and a
potential employee. CDC tries to get as much information as possible to provide
qualified and secure jobs. If there is a suspicion, that the company isn’t
trustworthy, the Career Development Center declines an offer.
Employment opportunities on campus normally require a student to be in his/her
second year. LCC offers jobs for 10 to 25 hours a week in such positions as
assistants to various Departments, receptionists, and Michealsen centras attendants.
Off campus opportunities come from local companies, business representatives
and private individuals. These jobs usually are English teachers or tutors,
managers, managers-administrators, administrators, translators, assistants,
babysitters, housekeepers, secretaries, agents, consultants and, sometimes,
top managers.

summer Employment Opportunities In
addition to employment opportunities in Lithuania, students have opportunities
to work abroad during the summer holidays. Every September, the Career
Development Center invites companies that have Work & Travel programs
to give a presentation about their products and services. Students have
the chance to evaluate each of them and decide upon the best and most suitable
option. LCC students are encouraged to come to CDC and ask for advice regarding
employment abroad.
Business Practicum In addition to the knowledge acquired during class time, practical experience is very important for many LCC students. Students have an opportunity to combine a part or full time job with a Business Practicum course. Please refer to the Career Development Center for application forms and detailed information about this possibility. Business Practicum Handbook for 2008/2009 can be downloaded from here. All students are encouraged to read through it before registering for the course.
