The LCC International University suspended its basketball program. Having not received the necessary financial support for this program from the donors, the program is suspended in the expectation of better times. This difficult decision was made by the LCC International University Board of Directors during their recent spring session.

The LCC student basketball team “Moose” has been playing in the Lithuanian student basketball league for two seasons now and has reached high levels of professionalism. The basketball program and the team have always been financed by donors who were funding the program with gifts not related to other operations of the university. Taking into account the decreasing support of these donors, the Board of Directors had no other option than to suspend the program. The President of the Board of Directors, June Michealsen, assured that the university has no intention of terminating the program permanently. It was a decision of the Board of Directors that the program should be suspended for up to two years.

The Interim President of the University, David Skeen, commented on this decision saying: "It is difficult to say goodbye to this program and the team. However, we cannot finance the basketball program with funds that are meant for the academic programs of the University. LCC International University is an academic institution and we must keep the quality of our academic programs as a clear priority. In today’s environment, where even the strongest professional teams in Lithuania are struggling to secure financing, we are hoping that this decision will be understood and supported by the University community. When the required financing is secured, we intend to bring the basketball program back to the University. Meanwhile, the students will be able to continue using the great facilities that we have to engage in a number of intramural activities."

European Football LCC's "Kicks" are at it again, preparing for play in the Lithuanian Colleges and Universities league. After a semi final showing at last year’s city league tournament, the guys are back in the swing of things.
