Mission statement
The SEEDS volunteer program exists to provide LCC students with opportunities for community service and enhance these communities by exercising servant leadership, promoting life-long commitment to citizenship, and facilitating meaningful partnerships.
The leadership team consists of the SEEDS program coordinator and six SEEDS Student Leaders. This
team is looking for local
volunteering opportunities that will allow students to utilize their talents and abilities to help make our world a better place. Some service opportunities may include helping children, assisting elderly people, serving the homeless, and we will continue to find more ways to help and assist those in need! SEEDS also assist students, who need to do 60 hrs of volunteer work per academic year.
Why SEEDS?
Applying to this position I had some expectations about what I would gain being a student leader in SEEDS. I got really more then I imagined and I could admit that to apply for SEEDS was wise decision. Being a student leader in SEEDS helped me to build up my character, develop working in group’s abilities, I became aware of help for people activities what takes place outside LCC. ...it helped me to build my character. I became more aware about my strengths and weaknesses. (Gintare Giraityte, 3rd year student, SEEDS member)
Students in SEEDS will
- Learn to interact responsibly in the community

Reflections on Volunteer Work
Volunteering made me more involved in LCC community life, broadened my worldview and communication skills, helped me to overcome inner fears as well as gave the feeling of being busy and useful. Volunteering is not about working for free, but about investing your time and efforts in your mind and soul development. (Nadia Kovaliova, 1st year student)
Volunteering work helps me to develop responsibility, commitment; it encourages me also to be more open to people and to be wiling to listen, to understand, and to support them. I can change somehow their lives and bring a little joy in their common day. (Iryna Khrusyuk, 1st year student)
I think this is the essence of volunteering, when you learn and help others learn, when you communicate and help others adjust to difficulties, and they help you to adjust. Children help me to witness innocence and sincerity, they teach me to love and communicate with deeds, elderly share their wisdom and advice. I in turn, do what I can do for them to feel better and feel needed. I am thankful to SEEDS and YWAM for these opportunities for this experience is truly valuable for me, and not only in terms of volunteer work hours. It gives more more than that. (Altynai Kudaibergenova, 1st year student)
